AHMOSE I THE LIBERATOR OF THE ASIATIC INVASION

Ahmose I, meaning The Moon is Born, was a nswt-bjtj 𓆥 (pharaoh) of Kemet 𓆎𓅓𓏏𓊖 (ancient Egypt) and the founder of the 18th Dynasty. He was a member of the Wasetian (Theban) royal house, the son of King Tao II Seqenenre and brother of the last nswt-bjtj 𓆥 (pharaoh) of the Seventeenth dynasty, King Kamose.

During the Asiatic invasion and occupation of the Delta by the Hyksos 𓋾𓈎𓈉 from 1650-1550 BCE It was Kamose, older brother of Ahmose who rallied a Medjay Army from Ta-Nehesy 𓇾𓅘𓎛𓋴 𓇋 𓈊 (Nubia) and finally expelled the Asiatic invaders who ruled over the Delta region which was the gateway to the Mediterranean world and near east. Sometime during the reign of King Ahomse's father, The Pharaonic Kings of Waset 𓌀𓏏𓊖 (Thebes) rebelled against the Hyksos, the usurpers of Lower Kemet. When he was seven his father was killed, and when he was about ten when his brother died of unknown causes, after reigning only three years. Ahmose I assumed the throne after the death of his brother, and upon coronation became known as Neb-Pehty-Re, The Lord of Strength is Ra, and assumed rulership over the once again united land of Upper and Lower Kemet commonly referred to as Semi Towi, The United Lands.

Centuries prior the Hyksos 𓋾𓈎𓈉 conquerers ushered in what would become known as the the 14th Dynasty of Kemet a non-African, non-native population who usurp African culture and civilization while at the same time destroying Kemetic Temples and pillaging and plundering the royal coffers. There is very little records during this time period as it was considered a dark age of Kemetic history and the beginning of the Second Intermediate Period which would span across the 15th, 16th, and 17th Dynasties.

Although the Hyksos would rule over only Lower Kemet, never the heartland of the nation which was located in Upper Kemet in the South in the city of Waset 𓌀𓏏𓊖 which translates to "City of the Sceptre", known to the Greeks as Thebes. The Hyksos would create much chaos and political instability for a century before native rulership would once again be established beginning with Kamose's victory over the Hyksos during the twilight of the 17th Dynasty around 1550 BCE and competed by Ahmose I victory over the Asiatics.

"I sailed north to my victory to drive back the Asiatics, my courageous Army in front of me like a flame of fire, with the Bowmen of the Medjay upland of our encampment ready to seek out the Asiatics." - Stela of King Ahmose

The term swtwt (tour) means that the commander, Ahmose, son of Abana, (not to be confused with Ahomse I) followed king Ahmose during peace and war:

"When the city of Avaris was besieged (by the Asiatics), I fought bravely on foot, in front (presence) of his majesty".

Here, the first paragraph relates to the liberation war beginning. Ahmose, son of Abana, informs us that the Kemetic (Egyptian) army besieged the fortified Hyksos capital of Avaris.

It was Ahmose I who was finally able to expel the foreigners in the Delta, uniting the country once again establishing the 18th Dynasty which ruled over all of Kemet, beginning the New Kingdom period in 1550 BC. The Nubian Medjay Army were instrumental in his campaign as well as future campaigns which would solidify the divine authority of the Wasetian Kings of the south over Lower Kemet and the Delta region once again.

This statue of Ahmose I is in rare form as he does not don a royal crown such as the Nemes, Deshret, or Hedjet as Kemetic rulers are usually depicted in their artwork. However the artisan did a brilliant job carving the instructed patterns of his twisted locs which was a common hairstyle for Royalty and comments alike. The Kemetyu 𓆎𓅓𓏏𓏪 (ancient Egyptians) and Nehesi 𓅘𓎛𓋴 𓇋 (Nubians) had a variety of hair textures from curly to coarse that could keep its shape when certain oils and animal fats were added. They would slather butter onto their hair and scalp, protecting it from the sun which then could be twisted into locs, combed out into long flowing waves, or used to enhance curl definition.

In this statue Ahmose wears an elaborate style labeled the the Nubian Lappet hairstyle by academics. This hairstyle consisted of layers of locs over lapping each other and was prominent during the New Kingdom. This hairstyle can be seen being worn by Nubian 𓅘𓎛𓋴 𓇋 Dignitaries on the temple walls of King Tutankhamun's tomb (TT80) and by King Tutankhamen himself on the back of his royal throne.

Many disillusioned academics claim it to be a wig but in over a century of excavations no such wig has ever been discovered. Needless to say commonsense tells us this was his natural hair and not a wig at all. Although the layered Lappet style would fade from history, similar hairstyles are still practiced by Ethiopians and and people of African decent. Beeswax and cow fat are still used today 5,000 years later to achieve these elaborate designs specifically in Ethiopia.
